Asia vs China: Atmospheric deposition — Cropland nitrogen per unit area
Atmospheric deposition — Cropland nitrogen per unit area over time
- Asia
- China
How they compare
China currently reports 24.2 kg/ha against 15.46 kg/ha in Asia, a difference of 8.74 kg/ha.
That makes China's figure about 1.6 times Asia's.
The two have swapped places 1 time across 63 shared years of data; in 1961 it was Asia ahead.
Asia ranks 3rd and China ranks 5th of 38 regions.
Across the 7 decades both report, Asia averaged higher in 1 and China in 6.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Asia | China | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1960s | 5.43 kg/ha | 5.03 kg/ha | 0.3996 kg/ha | Asia |
| 1970s | 6.54 kg/ha | 6.6 kg/ha | 0.0572 kg/ha | China |
| 1980s | 8.94 kg/ha | 10.79 kg/ha | 1.85 kg/ha | China |
| 1990s | 12.36 kg/ha | 17.39 kg/ha | 5.02 kg/ha | China |
| 2000s | 14.23 kg/ha | 24.47 kg/ha | 10.25 kg/ha | China |
| 2010s | 15.49 kg/ha | 25.8 kg/ha | 10.31 kg/ha | China |
| 2020s | 15.37 kg/ha | 24.19 kg/ha | 8.82 kg/ha | China |
Averages of every year both report within each decade.

About this data
The Cropland Nutrient balance domain contains information on the flows of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium from mineral fertilizer, manure applied, atmospheric deposition, crop removal, and biological fixation over cropland and per unit area of cropland. The flows are aggregated to total inputs and total outputs, from which the overall nutrient balance and nutrient use efficiency on cropland are calculated. Statistics are disseminated in units of tonnes and in kg/ha, as appropriate. Nutrient use efficiency is expressed as a fraction (%).
