Belgium vs Ethiopia: Atmospheric deposition — Cropland nitrogen per unit area
Atmospheric deposition — Cropland nitrogen per unit area over time
- Belgium
- Ethiopia
How they compare
Ethiopia currently reports 11.83 kg/ha against 10.25 kg/ha in Belgium, a difference of 1.58 kg/ha.
That makes Ethiopia's figure about 1.2 times Belgium's.
Across all 24 years both countries report, Ethiopia has been ahead every year.
Belgium ranks 27th and Ethiopia ranks 24th of 186 countries.
Ethiopia has averaged higher in every one of the 3 decades both report.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Belgium | Ethiopia | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2000s | 9.39 kg/ha | 10.78 kg/ha | 1.38 kg/ha | Ethiopia |
| 2010s | 9.68 kg/ha | 11.54 kg/ha | 1.86 kg/ha | Ethiopia |
| 2020s | 10.2 kg/ha | 11.8 kg/ha | 1.59 kg/ha | Ethiopia |
Averages of every year both report within each decade.

About this data
The Cropland Nutrient balance domain contains information on the flows of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium from mineral fertilizer, manure applied, atmospheric deposition, crop removal, and biological fixation over cropland and per unit area of cropland. The flows are aggregated to total inputs and total outputs, from which the overall nutrient balance and nutrient use efficiency on cropland are calculated. Statistics are disseminated in units of tonnes and in kg/ha, as appropriate. Nutrient use efficiency is expressed as a fraction (%).
