How they compare

Ethiopia currently reports 11.83 kg/ha against 5.59 kg/ha in Western Asia, a difference of 6.24 kg/ha.

That makes Ethiopia's figure about 2.1 times Western Asia's.

Across all 31 years both countries report, Ethiopia has been ahead every year.

Ethiopia ranks 24th and Western Asia ranks 22nd of 186 countries.

Ethiopia has averaged higher in every one of the 4 decades both report.

Head to head by decade

Decade Ethiopia Western Asia Difference Ahead
1990s 11.05 kg/ha 4.72 kg/ha 6.33 kg/ha Ethiopia
2000s 10.78 kg/ha 4.86 kg/ha 5.92 kg/ha Ethiopia
2010s 11.54 kg/ha 5.45 kg/ha 6.09 kg/ha Ethiopia
2020s 11.8 kg/ha 5.53 kg/ha 6.27 kg/ha Ethiopia

Averages of every year both report within each decade.

The Cropland Nutrient balance domain contains information on the flows of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium from mineral fertilizer, manure applied, atmospheric deposition, crop removal, and biological fixation over cropland and per unit area of cropland. The flows are aggregated to total inputs and total outputs, from which the overall nutrient balance and nutrient use efficiency on cropland are calculated. Statistics are disseminated in units of tonnes and in kg/ha, as appropriate. Nutrient use efficiency is expressed as a fraction (%).
