Europe vs Maldives: Atmospheric deposition — Cropland nitrogen per unit area
Atmospheric deposition — Cropland nitrogen per unit area over time
- Europe
- Maldives
How they compare
Maldives currently reports 18.61 kg/ha against 6.9 kg/ha in Europe, a difference of 11.71 kg/ha.
That makes Maldives's figure about 2.7 times Europe's.
The two have swapped places 3 times across 63 shared years of data; in 1961 it was Europe ahead.
Europe ranks 11th and Maldives ranks 11th of 29 groups.
Across the 7 decades both report, Europe averaged higher in 3 and Maldives in 4.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Europe | Maldives | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1960s | 7.78 kg/ha | 5.23 kg/ha | 2.56 kg/ha | Europe |
| 1970s | 9.58 kg/ha | 6.5 kg/ha | 3.08 kg/ha | Europe |
| 1980s | 10.68 kg/ha | 9.46 kg/ha | 1.22 kg/ha | Europe |
| 1990s | 8.48 kg/ha | 13.88 kg/ha | 5.4 kg/ha | Maldives |

About this data
The Cropland Nutrient balance domain contains information on the flows of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium from mineral fertilizer, manure applied, atmospheric deposition, crop removal, and biological fixation over cropland and per unit area of cropland. The flows are aggregated to total inputs and total outputs, from which the overall nutrient balance and nutrient use efficiency on cropland are calculated. Statistics are disseminated in units of tonnes and in kg/ha, as appropriate. Nutrient use efficiency is expressed as a fraction (%).
