Israel vs Northern America: Atmospheric deposition — Cropland nitrogen per unit area
Atmospheric deposition — Cropland nitrogen per unit area over time
- Israel
- Northern America
How they compare
Israel currently reports 23.7 kg/ha against 6.8 kg/ha in Northern America, a difference of 16.9 kg/ha.
That makes Israel's figure about 3.5 times Northern America's.
The two have swapped places 1 time across 63 shared years of data; in 1961 it was Northern America ahead.
Israel ranks 6th and Northern America ranks 12th of 186 countries.
Across the 7 decades both report, Israel averaged higher in 5 and Northern America in 2.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Israel | Northern America | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1960s | 5.23 kg/ha | 6.39 kg/ha | 1.17 kg/ha | Northern America |
| 1970s | 6.5 kg/ha | 7.88 kg/ha | 1.38 kg/ha | Northern America |
| 1980s | 9.46 kg/ha | 8.22 kg/ha | 1.25 kg/ha | Israel |
| 1990s | 13.88 kg/ha | 8.32 kg/ha | 5.56 kg/ha | Israel |
| 2000s | 17.2 kg/ha | 7.64 kg/ha | 9.56 kg/ha | Israel |
| 2010s | 18.59 kg/ha | 6.92 kg/ha | 11.67 kg/ha | Israel |
| 2020s | 23.64 kg/ha | 6.77 kg/ha | 16.87 kg/ha | Israel |
Averages of every year both report within each decade.

About this data
The Cropland Nutrient balance domain contains information on the flows of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium from mineral fertilizer, manure applied, atmospheric deposition, crop removal, and biological fixation over cropland and per unit area of cropland. The flows are aggregated to total inputs and total outputs, from which the overall nutrient balance and nutrient use efficiency on cropland are calculated. Statistics are disseminated in units of tonnes and in kg/ha, as appropriate. Nutrient use efficiency is expressed as a fraction (%).
