How they compare

Switzerland currently reports 9.86 kg/ha against 9.3 kg/ha in USSR, a difference of 0.56 kg/ha.

That makes Switzerland's figure about 1.1 times USSR's.

Across all 31 years both countries report, Switzerland has been ahead every year.

Switzerland ranks 32nd and USSR ranks 35th of 185 countries.

Switzerland has averaged higher in every one of the 4 decades both report.

Head to head by decade

Decade Switzerland USSR Difference Ahead
1960s 10.36 kg/ha 6.27 kg/ha 4.09 kg/ha Switzerland
1970s 12.15 kg/ha 7.93 kg/ha 4.23 kg/ha Switzerland
1980s 12.82 kg/ha 9.13 kg/ha 3.69 kg/ha Switzerland
1990s 13.22 kg/ha 9.41 kg/ha 3.81 kg/ha Switzerland

Averages of every year both report within each decade.

The Cropland Nutrient balance domain contains information on the flows of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium from mineral fertilizer, manure applied, atmospheric deposition, crop removal, and biological fixation over cropland and per unit area of cropland. The flows are aggregated to total inputs and total outputs, from which the overall nutrient balance and nutrient use efficiency on cropland are calculated. Statistics are disseminated in units of tonnes and in kg/ha, as appropriate. Nutrient use efficiency is expressed as a fraction (%).
