How they compare

Eastern Asia currently reports 3.20 million t against 2.13 million t in USSR, a difference of 1.07 million t.

That makes Eastern Asia's figure about 1.5 times USSR's.

Across all 31 years both countries report, USSR has been ahead every year.

Eastern Asia ranks 3rd and USSR ranks 4th of 38 groups.

USSR has averaged higher in every one of the 4 decades both report.

Head to head by decade

Decade Eastern Asia USSR Difference Ahead
1960s 569,547 t 1.48 million t 911,095 t USSR
1970s 730,986 t 1.84 million t 1.11 million t USSR
1980s 1.36 million t 2.11 million t 751,099 t USSR
1990s 1.83 million t 2.16 million t 327,165 t USSR

Averages of every year both report within each decade.

The Cropland Nutrient balance domain contains information on the flows of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium from mineral fertilizer, manure applied, atmospheric deposition, crop removal, and biological fixation over cropland and per unit area of cropland. The flows are aggregated to total inputs and total outputs, from which the overall nutrient balance and nutrient use efficiency on cropland are calculated. Statistics are disseminated in units of tonnes and in kg/ha, as appropriate. Nutrient use efficiency is expressed as a fraction (%).
