Latvia vs Portugal: Atmospheric deposition — Cropland nitrogen
Atmospheric deposition — Cropland nitrogen over time
- Latvia
- Portugal
How they compare
Latvia currently reports 5,621 t against 5,343 t in Portugal, a difference of 278 t.
That makes Latvia's figure about 1.1 times Portugal's.
The two have swapped places 4 times across 32 shared years of data; in 1992 it was Latvia ahead.
Latvia ranks 104th and Portugal ranks 107th of 185 countries.
Across the 4 decades both report, Latvia averaged higher in 1 and Portugal in 3.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Latvia | Portugal | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1990s | 6,368 t | 8,704 t | 2,336 t | Portugal |
| 2000s | 4,464 t | 6,851 t | 2,387 t | Portugal |

About this data
The Cropland Nutrient balance domain contains information on the flows of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium from mineral fertilizer, manure applied, atmospheric deposition, crop removal, and biological fixation over cropland and per unit area of cropland. The flows are aggregated to total inputs and total outputs, from which the overall nutrient balance and nutrient use efficiency on cropland are calculated. Statistics are disseminated in units of tonnes and in kg/ha, as appropriate. Nutrient use efficiency is expressed as a fraction (%).
