Least Developed Countries (LDCs) vs USSR: Atmospheric deposition — Cropland nitrogen
Atmospheric deposition — Cropland nitrogen over time
- Least Developed Countries (LDCs)
- USSR
How they compare
USSR currently reports 2.13 million t against 1.68 million t in Least Developed Countries (LDCs), a difference of 448,820 t.
That makes USSR's figure about 1.3 times Least Developed Countries (LDCs)'s.
Across all 31 years both countries report, USSR has been ahead every year.
Least Developed Countries (LDCs) ranks 2nd and USSR ranks 4th of 18 groups.
USSR has averaged higher in every one of the 4 decades both report.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Least Developed Countries (LDCs) | USSR | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1960s | 562,428 t | 1.48 million t | 918,214 t | USSR |
| 1970s | 682,128 t | 1.84 million t | 1.16 million t | USSR |
| 1980s | 814,321 t | 2.11 million t | 1.30 million t | USSR |
| 1990s | 947,107 t | 2.16 million t | 1.21 million t | USSR |
Averages of every year both report within each decade.

About this data
The Cropland Nutrient balance domain contains information on the flows of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium from mineral fertilizer, manure applied, atmospheric deposition, crop removal, and biological fixation over cropland and per unit area of cropland. The flows are aggregated to total inputs and total outputs, from which the overall nutrient balance and nutrient use efficiency on cropland are calculated. Statistics are disseminated in units of tonnes and in kg/ha, as appropriate. Nutrient use efficiency is expressed as a fraction (%).
