How they compare

Turkmenistan currently reports 1.13 kg/ha against 0.9911 kg/ha in Afghanistan, a difference of 0.1389 kg/ha.

That makes Turkmenistan's figure about 1.1 times Afghanistan's.

The two have swapped places 11 times across 32 shared years of data; in 1992 it was Afghanistan ahead.

Afghanistan ranks 149th and Turkmenistan ranks 147th of 176 countries.

Across the 4 decades both report, Afghanistan averaged higher in 3 and Turkmenistan in 1.

Head to head by decade

Decade Afghanistan Turkmenistan Difference Ahead
1990s 1.02 kg/ha 0.8944 kg/ha 0.1226 kg/ha Afghanistan
2000s 0.9585 kg/ha 0.9495 kg/ha 0.009 kg/ha Afghanistan
2010s 1.19 kg/ha 0.9379 kg/ha 0.2516 kg/ha Afghanistan
2020s 0.9824 kg/ha 1.1 kg/ha 0.1161 kg/ha Turkmenistan

Averages of every year both report within each decade.

The Cropland Nutrient balance domain contains information on the flows of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium from mineral fertilizer, manure applied, atmospheric deposition, crop removal, and biological fixation over cropland and per unit area of cropland. The flows are aggregated to total inputs and total outputs, from which the overall nutrient balance and nutrient use efficiency on cropland are calculated. Statistics are disseminated in units of tonnes and in kg/ha, as appropriate. Nutrient use efficiency is expressed as a fraction (%).
