How they compare

Zambia currently reports 28.37 kg/ha against 11.84 kg/ha in Africa, a difference of 16.53 kg/ha.

That makes Zambia's figure about 2.4 times Africa's.

The two have swapped places 3 times across 63 shared years of data; in 1961 it was Africa ahead.

Africa ranks 16th and Zambia ranks 15th of 37 groups.

Across the 7 decades both report, Africa averaged higher in 5 and Zambia in 2.

Head to head by decade

Decade Africa Zambia Difference Ahead
1960s 5.52 kg/ha 2.42 kg/ha 3.1 kg/ha Africa

The Cropland Nutrient balance domain contains information on the flows of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium from mineral fertilizer, manure applied, atmospheric deposition, crop removal, and biological fixation over cropland and per unit area of cropland. The flows are aggregated to total inputs and total outputs, from which the overall nutrient balance and nutrient use efficiency on cropland are calculated. Statistics are disseminated in units of tonnes and in kg/ha, as appropriate. Nutrient use efficiency is expressed as a fraction (%).
