Biological fixation — Cropland nitrogen per unit area over time
- Algeria
- North Macedonia
How they compare
North Macedonia currently reports 1.75 kg/ha against 1.25 kg/ha in Algeria, a difference of 0.5 kg/ha.
That makes North Macedonia's figure about 1.4 times Algeria's.
Across all 32 years both countries report, North Macedonia has been ahead every year.
Algeria ranks 145th and North Macedonia ranks 142nd of 176 countries.
North Macedonia has averaged higher in every one of the 4 decades both report.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Algeria | North Macedonia | Difference | Ahead |

About this data
The Cropland Nutrient balance domain contains information on the flows of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium from mineral fertilizer, manure applied, atmospheric deposition, crop removal, and biological fixation over cropland and per unit area of cropland. The flows are aggregated to total inputs and total outputs, from which the overall nutrient balance and nutrient use efficiency on cropland are calculated. Statistics are disseminated in units of tonnes and in kg/ha, as appropriate. Nutrient use efficiency is expressed as a fraction (%).
