Burundi vs Eastern Africa: Biological fixation — Cropland nitrogen per unit area
Biological fixation — Cropland nitrogen per unit area over time
- Burundi
- Eastern Africa
How they compare
Burundi currently reports 32.58 kg/ha against 15.44 kg/ha in Eastern Africa, a difference of 17.14 kg/ha.
That makes Burundi's figure about 2.1 times Eastern Africa's.
The two have swapped places 2 times across 63 shared years of data; in 1961 it was Burundi ahead.
Burundi ranks 13th and Eastern Africa ranks 11th of 176 countries.
Burundi has averaged higher in every one of the 7 decades both report.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Burundi | Eastern Africa | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1960s | 15.21 kg/ha | 6.68 kg/ha | 8.53 kg/ha | Burundi |
| 1970s | 13.78 kg/ha | 7.3 kg/ha | 6.48 kg/ha | Burundi |
| 1980s | 14.32 kg/ha | 7.12 kg/ha | 7.2 kg/ha | Burundi |

About this data
The Cropland Nutrient balance domain contains information on the flows of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium from mineral fertilizer, manure applied, atmospheric deposition, crop removal, and biological fixation over cropland and per unit area of cropland. The flows are aggregated to total inputs and total outputs, from which the overall nutrient balance and nutrient use efficiency on cropland are calculated. Statistics are disseminated in units of tonnes and in kg/ha, as appropriate. Nutrient use efficiency is expressed as a fraction (%).
