Hungary vs New Zealand: Biological fixation — Cropland nitrogen per unit area
Biological fixation — Cropland nitrogen per unit area over time
- Hungary
- New Zealand
How they compare
New Zealand currently reports 2.5 kg/ha against 2.3 kg/ha in Hungary, a difference of 0.2 kg/ha.
That makes New Zealand's figure about 1.1 times Hungary's.
The two have swapped places 4 times across 63 shared years of data; in 1961 it was New Zealand ahead.
Hungary ranks 128th and New Zealand ranks 126th of 176 countries.
New Zealand has averaged higher in every one of the 7 decades both report.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Hungary | New Zealand | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1960s | 1.9 kg/ha | 4.69 kg/ha | 2.79 kg/ha | New Zealand |
| 1970s | 1.87 kg/ha | 7.87 kg/ha | 6 kg/ha | New Zealand |
| 1980s | 3.52 kg/ha | 8.96 kg/ha | 5.43 kg/ha | New Zealand |

About this data
The Cropland Nutrient balance domain contains information on the flows of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium from mineral fertilizer, manure applied, atmospheric deposition, crop removal, and biological fixation over cropland and per unit area of cropland. The flows are aggregated to total inputs and total outputs, from which the overall nutrient balance and nutrient use efficiency on cropland are calculated. Statistics are disseminated in units of tonnes and in kg/ha, as appropriate. Nutrient use efficiency is expressed as a fraction (%).
