How they compare

Japan currently reports 14.43 kg/ha against 13.67 kg/ha in Nigeria, a difference of 0.76 kg/ha.

That makes Japan's figure about 1.1 times Nigeria's.

The two have swapped places 2 times across 63 shared years of data; in 1961 it was Japan ahead.

Japan ranks 39th and Nigeria ranks 41st of 191 countries.

Japan has averaged higher in every one of the 7 decades both report.

Head to head by decade

Decade Japan Nigeria Difference Ahead
1960s 21.36 kg/ha 6.9 kg/ha 14.46 kg/ha Japan
1970s 16.91 kg/ha 4.71 kg/ha 12.2 kg/ha Japan
1980s 16.02 kg/ha 3.46 kg/ha 12.56 kg/ha Japan
1990s 14.1 kg/ha 6.7 kg/ha 7.4 kg/ha Japan

The Cropland Nutrient balance domain contains information on the flows of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium from mineral fertilizer, manure applied, atmospheric deposition, crop removal, and biological fixation over cropland and per unit area of cropland. The flows are aggregated to total inputs and total outputs, from which the overall nutrient balance and nutrient use efficiency on cropland are calculated. Statistics are disseminated in units of tonnes and in kg/ha, as appropriate. Nutrient use efficiency is expressed as a fraction (%).
