New Zealand vs Sweden: Biological fixation — Cropland nitrogen per unit area
Biological fixation — Cropland nitrogen per unit area over time
- New Zealand
- Sweden
How they compare
Sweden currently reports 2.77 kg/ha against 2.5 kg/ha in New Zealand, a difference of 0.27 kg/ha.
That makes Sweden's figure about 1.1 times New Zealand's.
The two have swapped places 3 times across 63 shared years of data; in 1961 it was New Zealand ahead.
New Zealand ranks 126th and Sweden ranks 123rd of 176 countries.
Across the 7 decades both report, New Zealand averaged higher in 5 and Sweden in 2.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | New Zealand | Sweden | Difference | Ahead |

About this data
The Cropland Nutrient balance domain contains information on the flows of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium from mineral fertilizer, manure applied, atmospheric deposition, crop removal, and biological fixation over cropland and per unit area of cropland. The flows are aggregated to total inputs and total outputs, from which the overall nutrient balance and nutrient use efficiency on cropland are calculated. Statistics are disseminated in units of tonnes and in kg/ha, as appropriate. Nutrient use efficiency is expressed as a fraction (%).
