Northern Africa vs Rwanda: Biological fixation — Cropland nitrogen per unit area
Biological fixation — Cropland nitrogen per unit area over time
- Northern Africa
- Rwanda
How they compare
Rwanda currently reports 21.74 kg/ha against 6.56 kg/ha in Northern Africa, a difference of 15.18 kg/ha.
That makes Rwanda's figure about 3.3 times Northern Africa's.
Across all 63 years both countries report, Rwanda has been ahead every year.
Northern Africa ranks 21st and Rwanda ranks 20th of 37 groups.
Rwanda has averaged higher in every one of the 7 decades both report.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Northern Africa | Rwanda | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1960s | 3.36 kg/ha | 14.58 kg/ha | 11.21 kg/ha | Rwanda |
| 1970s | 4.52 kg/ha | 15.48 kg/ha | 10.96 kg/ha | Rwanda |

About this data
The Cropland Nutrient balance domain contains information on the flows of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium from mineral fertilizer, manure applied, atmospheric deposition, crop removal, and biological fixation over cropland and per unit area of cropland. The flows are aggregated to total inputs and total outputs, from which the overall nutrient balance and nutrient use efficiency on cropland are calculated. Statistics are disseminated in units of tonnes and in kg/ha, as appropriate. Nutrient use efficiency is expressed as a fraction (%).
