Rwanda vs Western Africa: Biological fixation — Cropland nitrogen per unit area
Biological fixation — Cropland nitrogen per unit area over time
- Rwanda
- Western Africa
How they compare
Rwanda currently reports 21.74 kg/ha against 11.9 kg/ha in Western Africa, a difference of 9.84 kg/ha.
That makes Rwanda's figure about 1.8 times Western Africa's.
The two have swapped places 2 times across 63 shared years of data; in 1961 it was Rwanda ahead.
Rwanda ranks 20th and Western Africa ranks 15th of 176 countries.
Rwanda has averaged higher in every one of the 7 decades both report.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Rwanda | Western Africa | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1960s | 14.58 kg/ha | 6.98 kg/ha | 7.59 kg/ha | Rwanda |
| 1970s | 15.48 kg/ha | 6.09 kg/ha | 9.39 kg/ha | Rwanda |
| 1980s | 14.89 kg/ha | 5.06 kg/ha | 9.83 kg/ha | Rwanda |

About this data
The Cropland Nutrient balance domain contains information on the flows of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium from mineral fertilizer, manure applied, atmospheric deposition, crop removal, and biological fixation over cropland and per unit area of cropland. The flows are aggregated to total inputs and total outputs, from which the overall nutrient balance and nutrient use efficiency on cropland are calculated. Statistics are disseminated in units of tonnes and in kg/ha, as appropriate. Nutrient use efficiency is expressed as a fraction (%).
