Belgium vs Zimbabwe: Carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from Agriculture
Carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from Agriculture over time
- Belgium
- Zimbabwe
How they compare
Zimbabwe currently reports 0.0353 Mt CO2e against 0.0253 Mt CO2e in Belgium, a difference of 0.01 Mt CO2e.
That makes Zimbabwe's figure about 1.4 times Belgium's.
The two have swapped places 4 times across 55 shared years of data; in 1970 it was Zimbabwe ahead.
Belgium ranks 90th and Zimbabwe ranks 87th of 109 countries.
Zimbabwe has averaged higher in every one of the 6 decades both report.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Belgium | Zimbabwe | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1970s | 0.0381 Mt CO2e | 0.2035 Mt CO2e | 0.1655 Mt CO2e | Zimbabwe |
| 1980s | 0.0264 Mt CO2e | 0.1837 Mt CO2e | 0.1573 Mt CO2e | Zimbabwe |
| 1990s | 0.026 Mt CO2e | 0.1944 Mt CO2e | 0.1684 Mt CO2e | Zimbabwe |
| 2000s | 0.054 Mt CO2e | 0.0947 Mt CO2e | 0.0406 Mt CO2e | Zimbabwe |
| 2010s | 0.043 Mt CO2e | 0.0917 Mt CO2e | 0.0488 Mt CO2e | Zimbabwe |
| 2020s | 0.0317 Mt CO2e | 0.0605 Mt CO2e | 0.0288 Mt CO2e | Zimbabwe |
Averages of every year both report within each decade.

About this data
A measure of annual emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from the agricultural sector. This includes emissions from livestock (IPCC 2006 codes 3.A.1 (enteric fermentation, 3.a.2 (manure management) and crops (IPCC 2006 codes 3.C.1 Emissions from biomass burning, 3.C.2 Liming, 3.C.3 Urea application, 3.C.4 Direct N2O Emissions from managed soils, 3.C.5 Indirect N2O Emissions from managed soils, 3.C.6 Indirect N2O Emissions from manure management, 3.C.7 Rice cultivations). The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
