Canada vs Pakistan: Carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from Agriculture
Carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from Agriculture over time
- Canada
- Pakistan
How they compare
Pakistan currently reports 5.14 Mt CO2e against 4.89 Mt CO2e in Canada, a difference of 0.25 Mt CO2e.
That makes Pakistan's figure about 1.1 times Canada's.
The two have swapped places 3 times across 55 shared years of data; in 1970 it was Canada ahead.
Canada ranks 7th and Pakistan ranks 6th of 109 countries.
Across the 6 decades both report, Canada averaged higher in 1 and Pakistan in 5.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Canada | Pakistan | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1970s | 0.7725 Mt CO2e | 0.761 Mt CO2e | 0.0116 Mt CO2e | Canada |
| 1980s | 1.52 Mt CO2e | 1.57 Mt CO2e | 0.0428 Mt CO2e | Pakistan |
| 1990s | 1.8 Mt CO2e | 2.76 Mt CO2e | 0.9642 Mt CO2e | Pakistan |
| 2000s | 2.24 Mt CO2e | 4.12 Mt CO2e | 1.88 Mt CO2e | Pakistan |

About this data
A measure of annual emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from the agricultural sector. This includes emissions from livestock (IPCC 2006 codes 3.A.1 (enteric fermentation, 3.a.2 (manure management) and crops (IPCC 2006 codes 3.C.1 Emissions from biomass burning, 3.C.2 Liming, 3.C.3 Urea application, 3.C.4 Direct N2O Emissions from managed soils, 3.C.5 Indirect N2O Emissions from managed soils, 3.C.6 Indirect N2O Emissions from manure management, 3.C.7 Rice cultivations). The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
