France vs Viet Nam: Carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from Agriculture
Carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from Agriculture over time
- France
- Viet Nam
How they compare
Viet Nam currently reports 2.17 Mt CO2e against 1.96 Mt CO2e in France, a difference of 0.21 Mt CO2e.
That makes Viet Nam's figure about 1.1 times France's.
The two have swapped places 1 time across 55 shared years of data; in 1970 it was France ahead.
France ranks 16th and Viet Nam ranks 13th of 109 countries.
Across the 6 decades both report, France averaged higher in 4 and Viet Nam in 2.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | France | Viet Nam | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1970s | 3 Mt CO2e | 0.3155 Mt CO2e | 2.68 Mt CO2e | France |
| 1980s | 3.82 Mt CO2e | 0.6463 Mt CO2e | 3.17 Mt CO2e | France |
| 1990s | 3.64 Mt CO2e | 1.35 Mt CO2e | 2.29 Mt CO2e | France |
| 2000s | 3.32 Mt CO2e | 2.15 Mt CO2e | 1.17 Mt CO2e | France |
| 2010s | 2.62 Mt CO2e | 2.78 Mt CO2e | 0.1591 Mt CO2e | Viet Nam |
| 2020s | 1.95 Mt CO2e | 2.37 Mt CO2e | 0.419 Mt CO2e | Viet Nam |
Averages of every year both report within each decade.

About this data
A measure of annual emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from the agricultural sector. This includes emissions from livestock (IPCC 2006 codes 3.A.1 (enteric fermentation, 3.a.2 (manure management) and crops (IPCC 2006 codes 3.C.1 Emissions from biomass burning, 3.C.2 Liming, 3.C.3 Urea application, 3.C.4 Direct N2O Emissions from managed soils, 3.C.5 Indirect N2O Emissions from managed soils, 3.C.6 Indirect N2O Emissions from manure management, 3.C.7 Rice cultivations). The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
