Iran vs United Kingdom: Carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from Agriculture
Carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from Agriculture over time
- Iran
- United Kingdom
How they compare
Iran currently reports 1.65 Mt CO2e against 1.56 Mt CO2e in United Kingdom, a difference of 0.09 Mt CO2e.
That makes Iran's figure about 1.1 times United Kingdom's.
The two have swapped places 5 times across 55 shared years of data; in 1970 it was United Kingdom ahead.
Iran ranks 20th and United Kingdom ranks 21st of 109 countries.
Across the 6 decades both report, Iran averaged higher in 1 and United Kingdom in 5.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Iran | United Kingdom | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1970s | 0.3331 Mt CO2e | 1.4 Mt CO2e | 1.07 Mt CO2e | United Kingdom |
| 1980s | 0.9163 Mt CO2e | 2.52 Mt CO2e | 1.61 Mt CO2e | United Kingdom |
| 1990s | 1.29 Mt CO2e | 2.2 Mt CO2e | 0.9071 Mt CO2e | United Kingdom |
| 2000s | 1.66 Mt CO2e | 1.96 Mt CO2e | 0.2974 Mt CO2e | United Kingdom |
| 2010s | 1.47 Mt CO2e | 1.85 Mt CO2e | 0.3726 Mt CO2e | United Kingdom |
| 2020s | 1.62 Mt CO2e | 1.6 Mt CO2e | 0.0199 Mt CO2e | Iran |
Averages of every year both report within each decade.

About this data
A measure of annual emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from the agricultural sector. This includes emissions from livestock (IPCC 2006 codes 3.A.1 (enteric fermentation, 3.a.2 (manure management) and crops (IPCC 2006 codes 3.C.1 Emissions from biomass burning, 3.C.2 Liming, 3.C.3 Urea application, 3.C.4 Direct N2O Emissions from managed soils, 3.C.5 Indirect N2O Emissions from managed soils, 3.C.6 Indirect N2O Emissions from manure management, 3.C.7 Rice cultivations). The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
