Japan vs Ukraine: Carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from Agriculture
Carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from Agriculture over time
- Japan
- Ukraine
How they compare
Ukraine currently reports 0.772 Mt CO2e against 0.6265 Mt CO2e in Japan, a difference of 0.1455 Mt CO2e.
That makes Ukraine's figure about 1.2 times Japan's.
The two have swapped places 4 times across 55 shared years of data; in 1970 it was Ukraine ahead.
Japan ranks 34th and Ukraine ranks 31st of 109 countries.
Ukraine has averaged higher in every one of the 6 decades both report.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Japan | Ukraine | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1970s | 0.4941 Mt CO2e | 2.32 Mt CO2e | 1.83 Mt CO2e | Ukraine |
| 1980s | 1.41 Mt CO2e | 2.98 Mt CO2e | 1.57 Mt CO2e | Ukraine |
| 1990s | 1.17 Mt CO2e | 1.64 Mt CO2e | 0.4683 Mt CO2e | Ukraine |
| 2000s | 0.874 Mt CO2e | 1.14 Mt CO2e | 0.2648 Mt CO2e | Ukraine |

About this data
A measure of annual emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from the agricultural sector. This includes emissions from livestock (IPCC 2006 codes 3.A.1 (enteric fermentation, 3.a.2 (manure management) and crops (IPCC 2006 codes 3.C.1 Emissions from biomass burning, 3.C.2 Liming, 3.C.3 Urea application, 3.C.4 Direct N2O Emissions from managed soils, 3.C.5 Indirect N2O Emissions from managed soils, 3.C.6 Indirect N2O Emissions from manure management, 3.C.7 Rice cultivations). The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
