Nigeria vs Philippines: Carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from Agriculture
Carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from Agriculture over time
- Nigeria
- Philippines
How they compare
Philippines currently reports 1.18 Mt CO2e against 1.12 Mt CO2e in Nigeria, a difference of 0.06 Mt CO2e.
That makes Philippines's figure about 1.1 times Nigeria's.
The two have swapped places 2 times across 55 shared years of data; in 1970 it was Philippines ahead.
Nigeria ranks 26th and Philippines ranks 25th of 109 countries.
Philippines has averaged higher in every one of the 6 decades both report.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Nigeria | Philippines | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1970s | 0.0412 Mt CO2e | 0.3798 Mt CO2e | 0.3386 Mt CO2e | Philippines |
| 1980s | 0.1089 Mt CO2e | 0.4955 Mt CO2e | 0.3866 Mt CO2e | Philippines |

About this data
A measure of annual emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from the agricultural sector. This includes emissions from livestock (IPCC 2006 codes 3.A.1 (enteric fermentation, 3.a.2 (manure management) and crops (IPCC 2006 codes 3.C.1 Emissions from biomass burning, 3.C.2 Liming, 3.C.3 Urea application, 3.C.4 Direct N2O Emissions from managed soils, 3.C.5 Indirect N2O Emissions from managed soils, 3.C.6 Indirect N2O Emissions from manure management, 3.C.7 Rice cultivations). The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
