Philippines vs South Africa: Carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from Agriculture
Carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from Agriculture over time
- Philippines
- South Africa
How they compare
South Africa currently reports 1.28 Mt CO2e against 1.18 Mt CO2e in Philippines, a difference of 0.1 Mt CO2e.
That makes South Africa's figure about 1.1 times Philippines's.
The two have swapped places 3 times across 55 shared years of data; in 1970 it was Philippines ahead.
Philippines ranks 25th and South Africa ranks 23rd of 109 countries.
Philippines has averaged higher in every one of the 6 decades both report.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Philippines | South Africa | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1970s | 0.3798 Mt CO2e | 0.1844 Mt CO2e | 0.1954 Mt CO2e | Philippines |
| 1980s | 0.4955 Mt CO2e | 0.2347 Mt CO2e | 0.2608 Mt CO2e | Philippines |
| 1990s | 0.8 Mt CO2e | 0.2234 Mt CO2e | 0.5766 Mt CO2e | Philippines |
| 2000s | 0.9662 Mt CO2e | 0.4127 Mt CO2e | 0.5535 Mt CO2e | Philippines |

About this data
A measure of annual emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from the agricultural sector. This includes emissions from livestock (IPCC 2006 codes 3.A.1 (enteric fermentation, 3.a.2 (manure management) and crops (IPCC 2006 codes 3.C.1 Emissions from biomass burning, 3.C.2 Liming, 3.C.3 Urea application, 3.C.4 Direct N2O Emissions from managed soils, 3.C.5 Indirect N2O Emissions from managed soils, 3.C.6 Indirect N2O Emissions from manure management, 3.C.7 Rice cultivations). The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
