Egypt vs Viet Nam: Carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from Industrial Processes
Carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from Industrial Processes over time
- Egypt
- Viet Nam
How they compare
Viet Nam currently reports 50.28 Mt CO2e against 38.74 Mt CO2e in Egypt, a difference of 11.54 Mt CO2e.
That makes Viet Nam's figure about 1.3 times Egypt's.
The two have swapped places 1 time across 55 shared years of data; in 1970 it was Egypt ahead.
Egypt ranks 15th and Viet Nam ranks 12th of 203 countries.
Across the 6 decades both report, Egypt averaged higher in 5 and Viet Nam in 1.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Egypt | Viet Nam | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1970s | 2.48 Mt CO2e | 0.8682 Mt CO2e | 1.61 Mt CO2e | Egypt |
| 1980s | 5.13 Mt CO2e | 1.46 Mt CO2e | 3.67 Mt CO2e | Egypt |
| 1990s | 12.78 Mt CO2e | 4.29 Mt CO2e | 8.5 Mt CO2e | Egypt |
| 2000s | 26.36 Mt CO2e | 16.18 Mt CO2e | 10.18 Mt CO2e | Egypt |
| 2010s | 33.29 Mt CO2e | 32.43 Mt CO2e | 0.8591 Mt CO2e | Egypt |
| 2020s | 36.22 Mt CO2e | 50.83 Mt CO2e | 14.61 Mt CO2e | Viet Nam |
Averages of every year both report within each decade.

About this data
A measure of annual emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from industrial processes including IPCC 2006 codes 2.A.1 Cement production, 2.A.2 Lime production, 2.A.3 Glass Production, 2.A.4 Other Process Uses of Carbonates, 2.B Chemical Industry, 2.C Metal Industry, 2.D Non-Energy Products from Fuels and Solvent Use, 2.E Electronics Industry, 2.F Product Uses as Substitutes for Ozone Depleting Substances, 2.G Other Product Manufacture and Use and 5.A Indirect N2O emissions from the atmospheric deposition of nitrogen in NOx and NH3. The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
