How they compare

Kazakhstan currently reports 14.93 Mt CO2e against 13.3 Mt CO2e in Ukraine, a difference of 1.63 Mt CO2e.

That makes Kazakhstan's figure about 1.1 times Ukraine's.

The two have swapped places 1 time across 55 shared years of data; in 1970 it was Ukraine ahead.

Kazakhstan ranks 31st and Ukraine ranks 34th of 203 countries.

Ukraine has averaged higher in every one of the 6 decades both report.

Head to head by decade

Decade Kazakhstan Ukraine Difference Ahead
1970s 14.25 Mt CO2e 52.22 Mt CO2e 37.97 Mt CO2e Ukraine
1980s 11.69 Mt CO2e 52.69 Mt CO2e 41 Mt CO2e Ukraine
1990s 5.25 Mt CO2e 33.83 Mt CO2e 28.59 Mt CO2e Ukraine
2000s 7.13 Mt CO2e 33.28 Mt CO2e 26.16 Mt CO2e Ukraine
2010s 11.64 Mt CO2e 23.26 Mt CO2e 11.62 Mt CO2e Ukraine
2020s 15.19 Mt CO2e 16.39 Mt CO2e 1.2 Mt CO2e Ukraine

Averages of every year both report within each decade.

A measure of annual emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from industrial processes including IPCC 2006 codes 2.A.1 Cement production, 2.A.2 Lime production, 2.A.3 Glass Production, 2.A.4 Other Process Uses of Carbonates, 2.B Chemical Industry, 2.C Metal Industry, 2.D Non-Energy Products from Fuels and Solvent Use, 2.E Electronics Industry, 2.F Product Uses as Substitutes for Ozone Depleting Substances, 2.G Other Product Manufacture and Use and 5.A Indirect N2O emissions from the atmospheric deposition of nitrogen in NOx and NH3. The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
