Australia vs Ireland: Carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from Waste
Carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from Waste over time
- Australia
- Ireland
How they compare
Australia currently reports 0.0166 Mt CO2e against 0.0145 Mt CO2e in Ireland, a difference of 0.0021 Mt CO2e.
That makes Australia's figure about 1.1 times Ireland's.
The two have swapped places 3 times across 55 shared years of data; in 1970 it was Ireland ahead.
Australia ranks 30th and Ireland ranks 32nd of 100 countries.
Across the 6 decades both report, Australia averaged higher in 2 and Ireland in 4.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Australia | Ireland | Difference | Ahead |

About this data
A measure of annual emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from the waste sector. This includes emissions from solid waste (IPCC 2006 codes 4.A Solid Waste Disposal, 4.B Biological Treatment of Solid Waste, 4.C Incineration and Open Burning of Waste) and wastewater treatment (IPCC 2006 code 4.D Wastewater Treatment and Discharge). The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
