IBRD only vs South Korea: Carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from Waste
Carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from Waste over time
- IBRD only
- South Korea
How they compare
IBRD only currently reports 5.67 Mt CO2e against 1.62 Mt CO2e in South Korea, a difference of 4.05 Mt CO2e.
That makes IBRD only's figure about 3.5 times South Korea's.
The two have swapped places 2 times across 55 shared years of data; in 1970 it was IBRD only ahead.
IBRD only ranks 7th and South Korea ranks 4th of 47 groups.
IBRD only has averaged higher in every one of the 6 decades both report.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | IBRD only | South Korea | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1970s | 0.6804 Mt CO2e | 0.1642 Mt CO2e | 0.5162 Mt CO2e | IBRD only |
| 1980s | 0.9396 Mt CO2e | 0.2545 Mt CO2e | 0.6852 Mt CO2e | IBRD only |
| 1990s | 1.22 Mt CO2e | 0.836 Mt CO2e | 0.3883 Mt CO2e | IBRD only |

About this data
A measure of annual emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from the waste sector. This includes emissions from solid waste (IPCC 2006 codes 4.A Solid Waste Disposal, 4.B Biological Treatment of Solid Waste, 4.C Incineration and Open Burning of Waste) and wastewater treatment (IPCC 2006 code 4.D Wastewater Treatment and Discharge). The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
