Iceland vs Papua New Guinea: Carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from Waste
Carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from Waste over time
- Iceland
- Papua New Guinea
How they compare
Iceland currently reports 0.0011 Mt CO2e against 0.001 Mt CO2e in Papua New Guinea, a difference of 0.0001 Mt CO2e.
That makes Iceland's figure about 1.1 times Papua New Guinea's.
The two have swapped places 8 times across 55 shared years of data; in 1970 it was Iceland ahead.
Iceland ranks 64th and Papua New Guinea ranks 66th of 100 countries.
Iceland has averaged higher in every one of the 6 decades both report.

About this data
A measure of annual emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from the waste sector. This includes emissions from solid waste (IPCC 2006 codes 4.A Solid Waste Disposal, 4.B Biological Treatment of Solid Waste, 4.C Incineration and Open Burning of Waste) and wastewater treatment (IPCC 2006 code 4.D Wastewater Treatment and Discharge). The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
