Italy vs Portugal: Carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from Waste
Carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from Waste over time
- Italy
- Portugal
How they compare
Portugal currently reports 0.0221 Mt CO2e against 0.0198 Mt CO2e in Italy, a difference of 0.0023 Mt CO2e.
That makes Portugal's figure about 1.1 times Italy's.
The two have swapped places 1 time across 55 shared years of data; in 1970 it was Italy ahead.
Italy ranks 26th and Portugal ranks 23rd of 100 countries.
Across the 6 decades both report, Italy averaged higher in 5 and Portugal in 1.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Italy | Portugal | Difference | Ahead |

About this data
A measure of annual emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from the waste sector. This includes emissions from solid waste (IPCC 2006 codes 4.A Solid Waste Disposal, 4.B Biological Treatment of Solid Waste, 4.C Incineration and Open Burning of Waste) and wastewater treatment (IPCC 2006 code 4.D Wastewater Treatment and Discharge). The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
