Myanmar vs Vietnam: Carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from Waste
Carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from Waste over time
- Myanmar
- Vietnam
How they compare
Vietnam currently reports 0.0534 Mt CO2e against 0.0479 Mt CO2e in Myanmar, a difference of 0.0055 Mt CO2e.
That makes Vietnam's figure about 1.1 times Myanmar's.
The two have swapped places 1 time across 55 shared years of data; in 1970 it was Myanmar ahead.
Myanmar ranks 19th and Vietnam ranks 18th of 100 countries.
Across the 6 decades both report, Myanmar averaged higher in 5 and Vietnam in 1.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Myanmar | Vietnam | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1970s | 0.0177 Mt CO2e | 0.0033 Mt CO2e | 0.0144 Mt CO2e | Myanmar |
| 1980s | 0.0228 Mt CO2e | 0.0043 Mt CO2e | 0.0185 Mt CO2e | Myanmar |

About this data
A measure of annual emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from the waste sector. This includes emissions from solid waste (IPCC 2006 codes 4.A Solid Waste Disposal, 4.B Biological Treatment of Solid Waste, 4.C Incineration and Open Burning of Waste) and wastewater treatment (IPCC 2006 code 4.D Wastewater Treatment and Discharge). The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
