Switzerland vs Uruguay: Carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from Waste
Carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from Waste over time
- Switzerland
- Uruguay
How they compare
Uruguay currently reports 0.0014 Mt CO2e against 0.0013 Mt CO2e in Switzerland, a difference of 0.0001 Mt CO2e.
That makes Uruguay's figure about 1.1 times Switzerland's.
The two have swapped places 1 time across 55 shared years of data; in 1970 it was Switzerland ahead.
Switzerland ranks 63rd and Uruguay ranks 62nd of 100 countries.
Switzerland has averaged higher in every one of the 6 decades both report.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Switzerland | Uruguay | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1970s | 0.016 Mt CO2e | 0.0009 Mt CO2e | 0.015 Mt CO2e | Switzerland |
| 1980s | 0.0185 Mt CO2e | 0.0011 Mt CO2e | 0.0175 Mt CO2e | Switzerland |
| 1990s | 0.0103 Mt CO2e | 0.0012 Mt CO2e | 0.0092 Mt CO2e | Switzerland |
| 2000s | 0.0024 Mt CO2e | 0.0012 Mt CO2e | 0.0012 Mt CO2e | Switzerland |

About this data
A measure of annual emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from the waste sector. This includes emissions from solid waste (IPCC 2006 codes 4.A Solid Waste Disposal, 4.B Biological Treatment of Solid Waste, 4.C Incineration and Open Burning of Waste) and wastewater treatment (IPCC 2006 code 4.D Wastewater Treatment and Discharge). The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
