China vs France: Crop residue removal — Cropland phosphorus per unit area
Crop residue removal — Cropland phosphorus per unit area over time
- China
- France
How they compare
China currently reports 4.56 kg/ha against 4.29 kg/ha in France, a difference of 0.27 kg/ha.
That makes China's figure about 1.1 times France's.
The two have swapped places 5 times across 63 shared years of data; in 1961 it was France ahead.
China ranks 20th and France ranks 23rd of 185 countries.
Across the 7 decades both report, China averaged higher in 1 and France in 6.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | China | France | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1960s | 1.83 kg/ha | 3.23 kg/ha | 1.4 kg/ha | France |
| 1970s | 2.42 kg/ha | 3.6 kg/ha | 1.18 kg/ha | France |

About this data
The Cropland Nutrient balance domain contains information on the flows of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium from mineral fertilizer, manure applied, atmospheric deposition, crop removal, and biological fixation over cropland and per unit area of cropland. The flows are aggregated to total inputs and total outputs, from which the overall nutrient balance and nutrient use efficiency on cropland are calculated. Statistics are disseminated in units of tonnes and in kg/ha, as appropriate. Nutrient use efficiency is expressed as a fraction (%).
