Australia vs Botswana: Leaching — Cropland nitrogen per unit area
Leaching — Cropland nitrogen per unit area over time
- Australia
- Botswana
How they compare
Botswana currently reports 7.69 kg/ha against 7.1 kg/ha in Australia, a difference of 0.59 kg/ha.
That makes Botswana's figure about 1.1 times Australia's.
The two have swapped places 9 times across 63 shared years of data; in 1961 it was Australia ahead.
Australia ranks 118th and Botswana ranks 115th of 201 countries.
Across the 7 decades both report, Australia averaged higher in 5 and Botswana in 2.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Australia | Botswana | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1960s | 1.42 kg/ha | 1.39 kg/ha | 0.03 kg/ha | Australia |
| 1970s | 2.59 kg/ha | 1.79 kg/ha | 0.8031 kg/ha | Australia |
| 1980s | 2.66 kg/ha | 1.87 kg/ha | 0.7831 kg/ha | Australia |

About this data
The Cropland Nutrient balance domain contains information on the flows of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium from mineral fertilizer, manure applied, atmospheric deposition, crop removal, and biological fixation over cropland and per unit area of cropland. The flows are aggregated to total inputs and total outputs, from which the overall nutrient balance and nutrient use efficiency on cropland are calculated. Statistics are disseminated in units of tonnes and in kg/ha, as appropriate. Nutrient use efficiency is expressed as a fraction (%).
