Costa Rica vs Eastern Europe: Leaching — Cropland nitrogen per unit area
Leaching — Cropland nitrogen per unit area over time
- Costa Rica
- Eastern Europe
How they compare
Costa Rica currently reports 31.58 kg/ha against 5.35 kg/ha in Eastern Europe, a difference of 26.23 kg/ha.
That makes Costa Rica's figure about 5.9 times Eastern Europe's.
The two have swapped places 1 time across 63 shared years of data; in 1961 it was Eastern Europe ahead.
Costa Rica ranks 21st and Eastern Europe ranks 22nd of 185 countries.
Costa Rica has averaged higher in every one of the 7 decades both report.
Head to head by decade

About this data
The Cropland Nutrient balance domain contains information on the flows of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium from mineral fertilizer, manure applied, atmospheric deposition, crop removal, and biological fixation over cropland and per unit area of cropland. The flows are aggregated to total inputs and total outputs, from which the overall nutrient balance and nutrient use efficiency on cropland are calculated. Statistics are disseminated in units of tonnes and in kg/ha, as appropriate. Nutrient use efficiency is expressed as a fraction (%).
