Ethiopia vs Myanmar: Leaching — Cropland nitrogen per unit area
Leaching — Cropland nitrogen per unit area over time
- Ethiopia
- Myanmar
How they compare
Myanmar currently reports 4.6 kg/ha against 4.33 kg/ha in Ethiopia, a difference of 0.27 kg/ha.
That makes Myanmar's figure about 1.1 times Ethiopia's.
Across all 31 years both countries report, Myanmar has been ahead every year.
Ethiopia ranks 127th and Myanmar ranks 125th of 186 countries.
Myanmar has averaged higher in every one of the 4 decades both report.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Ethiopia | Myanmar | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1990s | 1.51 kg/ha | 4.89 kg/ha | 3.38 kg/ha | Myanmar |
| 2000s | 1.68 kg/ha | 5.17 kg/ha | 3.48 kg/ha | Myanmar |
| 2010s | 2.79 kg/ha | 7.24 kg/ha | 4.44 kg/ha | Myanmar |
| 2020s | 3.86 kg/ha | 5.67 kg/ha | 1.81 kg/ha | Myanmar |
Averages of every year both report within each decade.

About this data
The Cropland Nutrient balance domain contains information on the flows of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium from mineral fertilizer, manure applied, atmospheric deposition, crop removal, and biological fixation over cropland and per unit area of cropland. The flows are aggregated to total inputs and total outputs, from which the overall nutrient balance and nutrient use efficiency on cropland are calculated. Statistics are disseminated in units of tonnes and in kg/ha, as appropriate. Nutrient use efficiency is expressed as a fraction (%).
