Europe vs Turkmenistan: Leaching — Cropland nitrogen per unit area
Leaching — Cropland nitrogen per unit area over time
- Europe
- Turkmenistan
How they compare
Turkmenistan currently reports 42 kg/ha against 8.3 kg/ha in Europe, a difference of 33.7 kg/ha.
That makes Turkmenistan's figure about 5.1 times Europe's.
The two have swapped places 2 times across 32 shared years of data; in 1992 it was Turkmenistan ahead.
Europe ranks 15th and Turkmenistan ranks 10th of 38 regions.
Turkmenistan has averaged higher in every one of the 4 decades both report.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Europe | Turkmenistan | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1990s | 9.41 kg/ha | 13.05 kg/ha | 3.63 kg/ha | Turkmenistan |
| 2000s | 8.53 kg/ha | 16.23 kg/ha | 7.7 kg/ha | Turkmenistan |
| 2010s | 8.81 kg/ha | 29.47 kg/ha | 20.66 kg/ha | Turkmenistan |
| 2020s | 8.69 kg/ha | 39.74 kg/ha | 31.06 kg/ha | Turkmenistan |
Averages of every year both report within each decade.

About this data
The Cropland Nutrient balance domain contains information on the flows of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium from mineral fertilizer, manure applied, atmospheric deposition, crop removal, and biological fixation over cropland and per unit area of cropland. The flows are aggregated to total inputs and total outputs, from which the overall nutrient balance and nutrient use efficiency on cropland are calculated. Statistics are disseminated in units of tonnes and in kg/ha, as appropriate. Nutrient use efficiency is expressed as a fraction (%).
