Iraq vs Ukraine: Leaching — Cropland nitrogen per unit area
Leaching — Cropland nitrogen per unit area over time
- Iraq
- Ukraine
How they compare
Iraq currently reports 3.99 kg/ha against 3.76 kg/ha in Ukraine, a difference of 0.23 kg/ha.
That makes Iraq's figure about 1.1 times Ukraine's.
The two have swapped places 7 times across 32 shared years of data; in 1992 it was Ukraine ahead.
Iraq ranks 143rd and Ukraine ranks 146th of 201 countries.
Across the 4 decades both report, Iraq averaged higher in 1 and Ukraine in 3.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Iraq | Ukraine | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1990s | 4.77 kg/ha | 6.02 kg/ha | 1.25 kg/ha | Ukraine |
| 2000s | 5.29 kg/ha | 3.49 kg/ha | 1.8 kg/ha | Iraq |

About this data
The Cropland Nutrient balance domain contains information on the flows of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium from mineral fertilizer, manure applied, atmospheric deposition, crop removal, and biological fixation over cropland and per unit area of cropland. The flows are aggregated to total inputs and total outputs, from which the overall nutrient balance and nutrient use efficiency on cropland are calculated. Statistics are disseminated in units of tonnes and in kg/ha, as appropriate. Nutrient use efficiency is expressed as a fraction (%).
