New Zealand vs Sri Lanka: Leaching — Cropland nitrogen per unit area
Leaching — Cropland nitrogen per unit area over time
- New Zealand
- Sri Lanka
How they compare
New Zealand currently reports 6.78 kg/ha against 5.64 kg/ha in Sri Lanka, a difference of 1.14 kg/ha.
That makes New Zealand's figure about 1.2 times Sri Lanka's.
The two have swapped places 3 times across 63 shared years of data; in 1961 it was Sri Lanka ahead.
New Zealand ranks 114th and Sri Lanka ranks 115th of 185 countries.
Sri Lanka has averaged higher in every one of the 7 decades both report.

About this data
The Cropland Nutrient balance domain contains information on the flows of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium from mineral fertilizer, manure applied, atmospheric deposition, crop removal, and biological fixation over cropland and per unit area of cropland. The flows are aggregated to total inputs and total outputs, from which the overall nutrient balance and nutrient use efficiency on cropland are calculated. Statistics are disseminated in units of tonnes and in kg/ha, as appropriate. Nutrient use efficiency is expressed as a fraction (%).
