Southern Europe vs Turkmenistan: Leaching — Cropland nitrogen per unit area
Leaching — Cropland nitrogen per unit area over time
- Southern Europe
- Turkmenistan
How they compare
Turkmenistan currently reports 42 kg/ha against 11.3 kg/ha in Southern Europe, a difference of 30.7 kg/ha.
That makes Turkmenistan's figure about 3.7 times Southern Europe's.
The two have swapped places 2 times across 32 shared years of data; in 1992 it was Turkmenistan ahead.
Southern Europe ranks 7th and Turkmenistan ranks 10th of 29 groups.
Turkmenistan has averaged higher in every one of the 4 decades both report.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Southern Europe | Turkmenistan | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1990s | 11.77 kg/ha | 13.05 kg/ha | 1.28 kg/ha | Turkmenistan |
| 2000s | 12.65 kg/ha | 16.23 kg/ha | 3.59 kg/ha | Turkmenistan |
| 2010s | 12.68 kg/ha | 29.47 kg/ha | 16.79 kg/ha | Turkmenistan |
| 2020s | 12.07 kg/ha | 39.74 kg/ha | 27.68 kg/ha | Turkmenistan |
Averages of every year both report within each decade.

About this data
The Cropland Nutrient balance domain contains information on the flows of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium from mineral fertilizer, manure applied, atmospheric deposition, crop removal, and biological fixation over cropland and per unit area of cropland. The flows are aggregated to total inputs and total outputs, from which the overall nutrient balance and nutrient use efficiency on cropland are calculated. Statistics are disseminated in units of tonnes and in kg/ha, as appropriate. Nutrient use efficiency is expressed as a fraction (%).
