Viet Nam vs Western Europe: Leaching — Cropland nitrogen per unit area
Leaching — Cropland nitrogen per unit area over time
- Viet Nam
- Western Europe
How they compare
Viet Nam currently reports 20.83 kg/ha against 17.68 kg/ha in Western Europe, a difference of 3.15 kg/ha.
That makes Viet Nam's figure about 1.2 times Western Europe's.
The two have swapped places 5 times across 63 shared years of data; in 1961 it was Western Europe ahead.
Viet Nam ranks 2nd and Western Europe ranks 2nd of 18 countries.
Across the 7 decades both report, Viet Nam averaged higher in 1 and Western Europe in 6.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Viet Nam | Western Europe | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1960s | 3.92 kg/ha | 16.84 kg/ha | 12.92 kg/ha | Western Europe |
| 1970s | 5.73 kg/ha | 22.93 kg/ha | 17.2 kg/ha | Western Europe |

About this data
The Cropland Nutrient balance domain contains information on the flows of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium from mineral fertilizer, manure applied, atmospheric deposition, crop removal, and biological fixation over cropland and per unit area of cropland. The flows are aggregated to total inputs and total outputs, from which the overall nutrient balance and nutrient use efficiency on cropland are calculated. Statistics are disseminated in units of tonnes and in kg/ha, as appropriate. Nutrient use efficiency is expressed as a fraction (%).
