China, mainland vs Europe: Leaching — Cropland nitrogen
Leaching — Cropland nitrogen over time
- China, mainland
- Europe
How they compare
China, mainland currently reports 3.49 million t against 2.38 million t in Europe, a difference of 1.12 million t.
That makes China, mainland's figure about 1.5 times Europe's.
The two have swapped places 1 time across 63 shared years of data; in 1961 it was Europe ahead.
China, mainland ranks 2nd and Europe ranks 5th of 186 countries.
Across the 7 decades both report, China, mainland averaged higher in 3 and Europe in 4.
Head to head by decade

About this data
The Cropland Nutrient balance domain contains information on the flows of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium from mineral fertilizer, manure applied, atmospheric deposition, crop removal, and biological fixation over cropland and per unit area of cropland. The flows are aggregated to total inputs and total outputs, from which the overall nutrient balance and nutrient use efficiency on cropland are calculated. Statistics are disseminated in units of tonnes and in kg/ha, as appropriate. Nutrient use efficiency is expressed as a fraction (%).
