How they compare

Angola currently reports 7.25 Mt CO2e against 6.65 Mt CO2e in Chile, a difference of 0.6 Mt CO2e.

That makes Angola's figure about 1.1 times Chile's.

The two have swapped places 3 times across 55 shared years of data; in 1970 it was Chile ahead.

Angola ranks 73rd and Chile ranks 76th of 201 countries.

Across the 6 decades both report, Angola averaged higher in 1 and Chile in 5.

Head to head by decade

Decade Angola Chile Difference Ahead
1970s 3.28 Mt CO2e 7.82 Mt CO2e 4.54 Mt CO2e Chile
1980s 3.78 Mt CO2e 8.31 Mt CO2e 4.53 Mt CO2e Chile
1990s 4.17 Mt CO2e 8.55 Mt CO2e 4.39 Mt CO2e Chile

A measure of annual emissions of methane (CH4), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from the agricultural sector. This includes emissions from livestock (IPCC 2006 codes 3.A.1 (enteric fermentation, 3.a.2 (manure management) and crops (IPCC 2006 codes 3.C.1 Emissions from biomass burning, 3.C.7 Rice cultivations). The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
