Austria vs Sri Lanka: Methane (CH4) emissions from Agriculture
Methane (CH4) emissions from Agriculture over time
- Austria
- Sri Lanka
How they compare
Sri Lanka currently reports 5.57 Mt CO2e against 5.21 Mt CO2e in Austria, a difference of 0.36 Mt CO2e.
That makes Sri Lanka's figure about 1.1 times Austria's.
The two have swapped places 5 times across 55 shared years of data; in 1970 it was Austria ahead.
Austria ranks 89th and Sri Lanka ranks 86th of 201 countries.
Across the 6 decades both report, Austria averaged higher in 5 and Sri Lanka in 1.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Austria | Sri Lanka | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1970s | 6.5 Mt CO2e | 3.23 Mt CO2e | 3.28 Mt CO2e | Austria |
| 1980s | 6.81 Mt CO2e | 3.59 Mt CO2e | 3.21 Mt CO2e | Austria |
| 1990s | 6.23 Mt CO2e | 5.5 Mt CO2e | 0.7301 Mt CO2e | Austria |

About this data
A measure of annual emissions of methane (CH4), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from the agricultural sector. This includes emissions from livestock (IPCC 2006 codes 3.A.1 (enteric fermentation, 3.a.2 (manure management) and crops (IPCC 2006 codes 3.C.1 Emissions from biomass burning, 3.C.7 Rice cultivations). The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
