How they compare

Morocco currently reports 8.32 Mt CO2e against 7.44 Mt CO2e in Cameroon, a difference of 0.88 Mt CO2e.

That makes Morocco's figure about 1.1 times Cameroon's.

The two have swapped places 4 times across 55 shared years of data; in 1970 it was Morocco ahead.

Cameroon ranks 71st and Morocco ranks 68th of 201 countries.

Morocco has averaged higher in every one of the 6 decades both report.

Head to head by decade

Decade Cameroon Morocco Difference Ahead
1970s 3.37 Mt CO2e 7.63 Mt CO2e 4.27 Mt CO2e Morocco
1980s 4.84 Mt CO2e 6.6 Mt CO2e 1.76 Mt CO2e Morocco
1990s 6.04 Mt CO2e 6.44 Mt CO2e 0.3974 Mt CO2e Morocco
2000s 7.17 Mt CO2e 7.35 Mt CO2e 0.1753 Mt CO2e Morocco
2010s 7.07 Mt CO2e 8.65 Mt CO2e 1.58 Mt CO2e Morocco
2020s 7.43 Mt CO2e 8.81 Mt CO2e 1.38 Mt CO2e Morocco

Averages of every year both report within each decade.

A measure of annual emissions of methane (CH4), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from the agricultural sector. This includes emissions from livestock (IPCC 2006 codes 3.A.1 (enteric fermentation, 3.a.2 (manure management) and crops (IPCC 2006 codes 3.C.1 Emissions from biomass burning, 3.C.7 Rice cultivations). The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
