Iraq vs Syrian Arab Republic: Methane (CH4) emissions from Agriculture
Methane (CH4) emissions from Agriculture over time
- Iraq
- Syrian Arab Republic
How they compare
Syrian Arab Republic currently reports 4.66 Mt CO2e against 4.3 Mt CO2e in Iraq, a difference of 0.36 Mt CO2e.
That makes Syrian Arab Republic's figure about 1.1 times Iraq's.
The two have swapped places 13 times across 55 shared years of data; in 1970 it was Iraq ahead.
Iraq ranks 94th and Syrian Arab Republic ranks 92nd of 201 countries.
Across the 6 decades both report, Iraq averaged higher in 3 and Syrian Arab Republic in 3.
Head to head by decade

About this data
A measure of annual emissions of methane (CH4), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from the agricultural sector. This includes emissions from livestock (IPCC 2006 codes 3.A.1 (enteric fermentation, 3.a.2 (manure management) and crops (IPCC 2006 codes 3.C.1 Emissions from biomass burning, 3.C.7 Rice cultivations). The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
