Brazil vs World: Methane (CH4) emissions from Waste
Methane (CH4) emissions from Waste over time
- Brazil
- World
How they compare
World currently reports 1,652 Mt CO2e against 107.92 Mt CO2e in Brazil, a difference of 1,544 Mt CO2e.
That makes World's figure about 15.3 times Brazil's.
Across all 55 years both countries report, World has been ahead every year.
Brazil ranks 4th and World ranks 1st of 203 countries.
World has averaged higher in every one of the 6 decades both report.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Brazil | World | Difference | Ahead |

About this data
A measure of annual emissions of methane (CH4), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from the waste sector. This includes emissions from solid waste (IPCC 2006 codes 4.A Solid Waste Disposal, 4.B Biological Treatment of Solid Waste, 4.C Incineration and Open Burning of Waste) and wastewater treatment (IPCC 2006 code 4.D Wastewater Treatment and Discharge). The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
