Denmark vs Mauritania: Methane (CH4) emissions from Waste
Methane (CH4) emissions from Waste over time
- Denmark
- Mauritania
How they compare
Mauritania currently reports 0.9576 Mt CO2e against 0.8057 Mt CO2e in Denmark, a difference of 0.1519 Mt CO2e.
That makes Mauritania's figure about 1.2 times Denmark's.
The two have swapped places 1 time across 55 shared years of data; in 1970 it was Denmark ahead.
Denmark ranks 126th and Mauritania ranks 123rd of 203 countries.
Across the 6 decades both report, Denmark averaged higher in 5 and Mauritania in 1.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Denmark | Mauritania | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1970s | 1.99 Mt CO2e | 0.1647 Mt CO2e | 1.83 Mt CO2e | Denmark |
| 1980s | 1.95 Mt CO2e | 0.234 Mt CO2e | 1.71 Mt CO2e | Denmark |
| 1990s | 1.65 Mt CO2e | 0.3078 Mt CO2e | 1.35 Mt CO2e | Denmark |
| 2000s | 1.16 Mt CO2e | 0.4307 Mt CO2e | 0.7315 Mt CO2e | Denmark |
| 2010s | 1.01 Mt CO2e | 0.6525 Mt CO2e | 0.3533 Mt CO2e | Denmark |
| 2020s | 0.8371 Mt CO2e | 0.895 Mt CO2e | 0.058 Mt CO2e | Mauritania |
Averages of every year both report within each decade.

About this data
A measure of annual emissions of methane (CH4), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from the waste sector. This includes emissions from solid waste (IPCC 2006 codes 4.A Solid Waste Disposal, 4.B Biological Treatment of Solid Waste, 4.C Incineration and Open Burning of Waste) and wastewater treatment (IPCC 2006 code 4.D Wastewater Treatment and Discharge). The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
