IDA blend vs Sudan: Methane (CH4) emissions from Waste
Methane (CH4) emissions from Waste over time
- IDA blend
- Sudan
How they compare
IDA blend currently reports 79.96 Mt CO2e against 9.96 Mt CO2e in Sudan, a difference of 70 Mt CO2e.
That makes IDA blend's figure about 8.0 times Sudan's.
Across all 55 years both countries report, IDA blend has been ahead every year.
IDA blend ranks 39th and Sudan ranks 36th of 47 groups.
IDA blend has averaged higher in every one of the 6 decades both report.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | IDA blend | Sudan | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1970s | 17.44 Mt CO2e | 1.95 Mt CO2e | 15.49 Mt CO2e | IDA blend |
| 1980s | 23.57 Mt CO2e | 2.53 Mt CO2e | 21.04 Mt CO2e | IDA blend |

About this data
A measure of annual emissions of methane (CH4), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from the waste sector. This includes emissions from solid waste (IPCC 2006 codes 4.A Solid Waste Disposal, 4.B Biological Treatment of Solid Waste, 4.C Incineration and Open Burning of Waste) and wastewater treatment (IPCC 2006 code 4.D Wastewater Treatment and Discharge). The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
